If you've never booked mobile laser tag before, it's natural to have questions. What exactly happens? How does the equipment work? What do you need to prepare? How does it run for a big group?
Here's a complete walkthrough of a typical Mobile Laser Quest session — from our arrival to our departure.
Before the Day
Once you've booked, we'll confirm the date, time, location, and approximate number of players. We'll sort out any lour battlefield specific to your venue — whether that's a backyard, a local park, a school oval, or an OSHC centre.
You will need to contact your local Council if using a Park or other Council Facility. Let us know when that is done.
You don't need to organise anything for the equipment. We bring everything. All you need to provide is the outdoor space.
If you're running a birthday party, this is a good time to plan where the cake and food will happen so it fits naturally around the game rotations.
Arrival and Setup (About 1 Hour Before Play)
Our camo Land Rover arrives roughly an hour before your session starts. We unload and set up:
- Pop Up bunkers positioned across the playing field to create cover and structure
- Camouflage netting strung between trees or stands to add atmosphere and tactical complexity if it is required.
- Medic Boxes and Domination Boxes — mission objectives that make the games far more interesting than a simple shoot-out
- 12 laser taggers — charged, tested, and ready to go
By the time the kids arrive, the battlefield looks the part.
The Briefing
Before play begins, Phil runs a player briefing. This covers:
- How the laser taggers work (hit sensors, reload, health indicators)
- The rules
- The game mode for the first round
- Team assignments
The briefing is kept short and energetic — kids are keen to get started, and we respect that.
The Games
Each game runs for 5 minutes. We typically cycle through several different game modes during a session:
- Team Deathmatch — classic team elimination
- Capture the Flag / Capture the Base — objective-based gameplay using the Domination Boxes
- VIP Escort — one player is the VIP; their team must get them to safety
For larger groups, we run rotations — one team plays while the next is briefing up.
Between Games
Game breaks are short — typically 2–3 minutes for a team debrief and water break. For birthday parties, we'll time a longer break around the food and cake so the schedule flows naturally.
Pack-Down
Once the session wraps up, we pack the entire battlefield away. This usually takes around an hour. The kids can eat, socialise, or start heading home — the pack-down happens quietly in the background and requires nothing from you.
We leave the space exactly as we found it.
What You Need to Prepare
Honestly, very little:
- A flat outdoor space of roughly 15m x 15m
- Water access for players (we recommend kids bring their own drink bottles)
- If it's a party: your food, cake, and decorations sorted separately
That's it. We handle the rest.
